Big Ten Breakdown: Week 6

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Big Ten Volleyball season is off and running in 2023. Perhaps the nation's deepest conference, the Big Ten offers a wide variety of physical and skillful teams that have a shot at making the NCAA Tournament this year.

After the two weeks of Big Ten play, here's how things shake out in the conference.

BIG TEN WEEK IN REVIEW
• Nebraska, Wisconsin and Penn State all won two games to remain the lone undefeated teams in conference play.
• IU beat Iowa but fell to No. 2 Nebraska in four sets in front of a record crowd.
• Northwestern came from behind to win in five sets over Purdue for a first conference win.
• Michigan State won twice to begin conference play 3-1 for the first time since 2017.
• Ohio State swept Maryland emphatically to move to 2-2.

AT A GLANCE
• Six Big Ten teams are ranked in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll including three in the top-15 (Wisconsin, Nebraska, Penn State)
• Nebraska and Wisconsin are the lone remaining undefeated teams overall and hold the No. 1 and 2 rankings in the nation.
• Only Michigan and Ohio State are below .500 but have both played tough schedules to this point.
• Rutgers, Iowa and Michigan are the lone winless teams in conference play.
• Illinois visits Purdue on Wednesday night. The matches of the weekend will be in Happy Valley as Indiana and OSU visit Penn State.
