Varsity Eight Victory Highlights Saturday in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Indiana rowing's Varsity Eight crew earned a win over No. 12 Ohio State and Michigan State on Saturday on Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio.
"Today was a good step in the direction we want to go. We came in with our mindset ready and executed it," said junior Megan Mills, who joined the Varsity Eight lineup Saturday while celebrating her birthday.
"As the season goes on, we're continuing to gain speed piece by piece and week by week," junior Katie Nelson, coxswain for the V8, said. "We're stoked for the next few weeks leading up to the Big Ten Championships and to see what we can do."

Indiana will host the 14th Annual Dale England Cup next Saturday (April 29) at the Dale England Rowing Center. The regatta is IU's last competition before the Big Ten Rowing Championships.

NOTES
- IU's Varsity Eight beat OSU by 4.5 seconds and Michigan State by 31.2 seconds to claim the final race of the day.
- Indiana finished second in five of the six remaining races, finishing ahead of Michigan State in all but the Second Novice Eight event.
- The Novice Eight boat gave the hosts a big challenge in the second race of the day, finishing just 1.4 seconds behind the Buckeyes and 7.9 seconds ahead of the Spartans.
