IOWA CITY, Iowa – Indiana Women's Soccer dropped a 3-1 contest to Iowa on Sunday afternoon. IU's lone goal of the game came from redshirt senior Mykayla Brown, her third of the season.
KEY MOMENTS
• The Hawkeyes jumped to a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute on a goal from Hailey Rydberg as she sent the ball past IU goalkeeper Bethany Kopel into the far post.
• Brown found the equalizer in the 20th minute as she scored her second goal in as many games. After senior Maya Piper headed the ball on to Brown around midfield, Brown took it all the way in to the attacking third. She then dropped the ball off to her right to redshirt senior Annelie Leitner, who gave it right back to Brown as she finished it with one touch past diving Iowa goalkeeper Cora Meyers.
• However, Iowa would take a 2-1 lead into the break on a goal from Rose Ripslinger in the 39th minute.
• The final Hawkeye score came just 24 seconds into the second half thanks to Natalie Winters.
• IU played with just 10 on the field for the final 16:58 after senior Abby Allen was called for a red card. Allen will now have to miss Saturday's match at Purdue as a result.
NOTABLES
• The Hoosiers fall to 6-3-2 (2-2-0 Big Ten) on the season, while Iowa improves to 5-4-2 (1-2-1 Big Ten).
• Indiana outshot Iowa on the day, 14-12, and had six corners to Iowa's one.
• Allen led IU with five shots, four of which were on goal. Graduate transfer Claudia Day was just behind Allen with three shots.
• Kopel had four saves against the Hawkeyes. Meyers had three saves for Iowa before Claire Graves came into the game in her place to start the second half, making a pair of stops.
QUOTABLE
"Give credit to Iowa. They came out, wanted it more and got the job done. We are a better team than what we showed today. Now, we walk away wishing we could have done more and that's not what we try and instill in this group and that's not what this group is about. All year, this team has left every single thing they have on the field and today they did not and we walk away with regrets. I challenge them to move on and not let this happen to us again. This group of kids and this 2018 team is too special to let that happen."

UP NEXT
• Indiana returns to action on Saturday as the Hoosiers travel to West Lafayette to take on Purdue in the Golden Boot Game. First kick is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on BTN Plus
